This page sets out how content on AfricanDate Reviews is commissioned, written, checked and corrected. It applies to everything we publish: platform pages, blog articles and guides.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the editorial team alone. Advertisers, affiliate partners and the platforms we review have no input into what we cover, what we conclude, or how anything is scored. Nobody outside the editorial team sees an article before publication.
How we source information
- Member reviews are the basis of every score. They are moderated, never rewritten.
- Primary sources come first: the platform’s own terms, pricing pages and billing descriptors; regulator and consumer-authority publications; court filings.
- Screenshots and receipts supplied by members are checked for internal consistency before we rely on them.
- We do not build articles from other review sites’ conclusions.
Fact-checking
Before publication, an article is checked for: prices verified against the platform’s live pages on a stated date; claims about features tested or attributed; every statistic linked to its source; and any allegation about a company supported by something we could show a lawyer.
Where we cannot verify something, we say so in the text rather than implying certainty.
Authorship
Articles carry the name of the person who wrote them. Contributors disclose any commercial relationship with a platform they write about, and we will not assign an article to someone with a stake in the outcome.
Sponsored content
Sponsored articles are labelled at the top of the page and in every listing where they appear. They are written to the same accuracy standard as editorial, and we retain final approval of the headline and any factual claim. We do not publish sponsored content that reads as a review of a rated platform.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we fix it and say so. Minor typographical fixes are made silently. Anything that changes the meaning of a sentence gets a dated correction note at the foot of the article. We do not delete an article to make an error disappear.
To request a correction, send the page URL, the specific sentence, and the evidence. We do not require a legal letter and we respond faster without one.
Right of reply
Any company we write about may respond. We publish responses in full alongside the original where they are of reasonable length and free of abuse.
Use of AI
We do not publish machine-generated articles under a human byline. AI tools may be used for research assistance, transcription or copy-editing; the reporting, the judgements and the final text are human, and a named person is accountable for every page.
